Nicole’s abstract paintings come from an inner experience of places, rather than representational depictions. Her compositions emerge through layers of color, texture, and revision, looking for a balance between structure and intuition. Drawn to the tension between geometry and organic form, control and chance, permanence and change, Nicole is interested in the space between recognition and ambiguity, where viewers can bring their own memories, associations, and interpretations to the paintings.

 

Inspired by the vast open spaces and incredible beauty of New Mexico, Nicole paints using subconscious memory, feeling, and emotion. Each painting becomes a record of observing, erasing, rediscovering, and responding. What remains is an abstract terrain where atmosphere, movement, and silence harmoniously coexist.
